Another one bites the dust. . . .

***The following post is not for the faint of heart***
I guess this is how our summer is going to be. I got a phone call tonight just as I was getting home to make dinner that Emily had hit her head in the pool at her friend's house. I ran over there to find a table full of blood-soaked paper towels and a frightened group of girls, including Emily. She was a tough kid, though. We got the bleeding to stop and thanks to our medical supplier, Auntie Jennie, we were able to save ourselves a trip to the ER. We got it cleaned up and I used dermabond (superglue for the skin) to seal it up. Good as new. . . minus a little bit of hair we had to cut off-- I think that was the most traumatic part for Emily.
Do I dare ask what else this summer is going to bring?

(Yes, we take pictures. The kids love looking back and reminiscing their battle wounds)

Enjoying the "cool" weather!

Charity and Emily are at girls camp this week enjoying the cool weather up north. We miss them and can't wait to hear all about it. The boys and I have been trying to get out and enjoy the weather since it hasn't been scorching hot this week. It's been between 80-90 which is unheard of for June! Steve took them to the park on Wednesday. Yesterday we went to the zoo, saw the animals and then played in Yakulla Caverns, the new water playground. The boys had a blast. We're off to the Children's museum today and then swimming! Yippee!

Summer Fun!?!?

Oh what do you do in the summertime?!?
Well, Sam probably won't be doing those things. He was playing with Matthew on the monkey bars last night and fell and broke his arm. Sam is such a tough kid-- I knew it was serious when he cried for over an hour and was crying again this morning. I laughed out loud when the Dr. listed all the things Sam is not supposed to do. Running, jumping, climbing, throwing, slides, playgrounds, water, etc. Have you met my kid?!?! Ya right.

He was such a brave boy and did exactly what they told him too and is very excited to have a cast on. Well. . . . he was excited until I had to help him go to the bathroom yet again tonight and help him wash his one hand. He let out a big sigh and asked "how much longer do I have to have this on, Mom?"

On another note, Steve and his brother Wayne left on another motorcycle ride tonight. They are heading up through Colorado again and will be gone for six days. We sure will miss having our daddy here but hope they have lots of fun!!

Last night for Family Night we took the kids to the drive-in to see Pixar's new movie "Up". The movie was hilarious and we had lots of fun. Kathie and John and their families went as well but we were the only ones who stayed for the double feature until 12:15 am. If you haven't had the chance to go the drive-in lately I would highly recommend it. It's a great adventure!
